Characterize the taxonomic composition and phylogenetic diversity of environmental samples
Variable V3 and V4 regions of the 16S rRNA gene are preferably amplified and the resulting PCR products (amplicons) are sequenced with NGS to explore phylogenetic classifications such as genus or species in diverse microbial populations. Thanks to multiplexing approaches, several amplicons from several samples can be analyzed in parallel to reduce costs per sample.

GBS/ RAD Sequencing »
Genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) is a novel application of NGS protocols for discovering and genotyping SNPs in crop genomes and populations. GBS is becoming increasingly important as a cost-effective and unique tool for genomics-assisted breeding in a range of plant species. Key components of this system include low cost, reduced sample handling, fewer PCR and purification steps, no size fractionation, no reference sequence limits, efficient barcoding and easiness to scale up.
